Civil War Veteran Served
in 62d New York Regiment. FARIBAULT,

29 UP). Major William Milligan, said by friends to be the only survivor of the
historic Sixty-second New York Regiment, died at the home of his son, William,
here yesterday. His age was 93. Major
Milligan came to
Faribault in 1865 and was for more than sixty years employed by the family of
the late Bishop Henry Benjamin Whipple, Episcopal churchman, as care-taker of
their property. Born
in New York on
April 3, 1841, Major Milligan resided there until the outbreak of the Civil
War, when he enlisted in the New York regiment. Since
the formation of
the G. A. R. Major Milligan had attended every national encamnment. He was
commander for the last two years of the Minnesota unit of the Loyal Legion,
composed of Civil War officers. New-York Times, April
